Mysuru: The Elder Citizens Council and Trust, in collaboration with Companio, Bengaluru, has organised a free EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) and Tens (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)Therapy exercise for senior citizens at Saraswathi Samudaya Bhavan in Jayalakshmipuram.
The camp, which was inaugurated by Gowdappa, Trust Chairman, on Nov. 15, will go on till Nov. 27. Senior citizens can make use of the camp between 10.30 am and 5.30 pm.
EMS involves sending electrical impulses through the skin. This stimulation may help in repairing the tissue and strengthening the muscles.
TENS uses low-voltage electrical currents to relieve pain. A TENS unit is a small device that delivers the current at or near your nerves to block or change your perception of pain.
These therapies provide relief from arthritis, varicose vein, muscle pain, muscle cramps, swelling, sciatica problem, cervical spondylitis, back pain etc.
