Sir,
The junction of Ring Road and Ooty Road near the APMC Yard urgently requires an overpass, ideally a cloverleaf junction, to address the escalating traffic congestion at this critical point.
For nearly a year now, this junction has become a major bottleneck for vehicles entering and exiting the city via this National Highway (NH).
Every morning and evening, 1-2 km long traffic snarls plague both sides of this signal on the NH, contributing to increased air pollution and significant delays. With the Mysuru-Nanjangud corridor rapidly evolving into an industrial hub, housing numerous new manufacturing and logistics facilities each year, the situation is bound to worsen.
Additionally, large educational institutions are emerging along this stretch, and the airport is poised for expansion into a full-fledged facility.
These developments will further exacerbate the congestion at this junction within a few years if the authorities fail to take immediate and decisive action while the problem remains manageable.
A cloverleaf junction seems to be the most effective solution, ensuring seamless traffic flow in all directions. In contrast, a simple flyover, like the one at the Hinkal-Hunsur Road junction, would only offer a temporary fix, likely requiring an overhaul within 5-6 years.
