BJP Mahila Morcha stages protest against death of lactating mothers

January 9, 2025

Mysuru: Strongly condemning the State Government for failing to take necessary measures for preventing serial deaths of lactating mothers in Government Hospitals across the State, members of the BJP Mahila Morcha staged a demonstration in front of the ZP office here yesterday demanding resignation of  Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao.

Claiming that over 300 lactating mothers have died in the State in the past four months, the protesters alleged that this is chiefly because of the poor quality of medicines.

The State Government has been negligent in addressing this serious issue, they said adding that women’s health, safety and security have remained only on paper and limited to speeches  under the Congress regime.

Alleging that the State Government has turned a blind eye towards improving the health system, especially women and child health care in the State, they urged the State Government to announce  a minimum of  Rs. 25 lakh compensation to the families of lactating mothers who have lost their lives.

They also demanded that the Government take care of the children of the dead mothers and ensure good quality medicines are supplied to Govt.Hospitals.

City BJP President L. Nagendra, former Mayor Shivakumar, leader H.G. Giridhar, BJP Mahila Morcha City President Renuka Raj, office-bearers Hema Nandish, Vidya Urs, Nalini, Rashmi, Hemalatha, Vedavathi, Roopa Kumar and others were present.
