Bengaluru: The arrest of BJP MLC C.T. Ravi from Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi during the Winter Session of the State Legislature and the Police harassing him by taking him on a wasteful errand (vehicle ride) in other districts throughout the night on the day of arrest in December last, has taken an interesting turn with the intervention of Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.

Following a complaint by C.T. Ravi, who is also a former Minister, Governor Gehlot is said to have written a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Dec. 31, 2024 asking him to take suitable action against all the Cops who were involved in the incident.

Ravi in his complaint had questioned the action of Police in taking him on a 400-km errand unnecessarily on the night of the day of his arrest by the Belagavi Police. Noting that he sustained head injuries while in Police custody, Ravi had sought action against Belagavi Police Commissioner, Belagavi SP and other senior cops who were responsible for such audacious action against him.

After receiving the complaint from Ravi, the Governor wrote a letter to the CM, attaching a copy of Ravi’s complaint, asking him to take necessary action on the MLC’s complaint. With this, the shadow boxing between the Congress Government and the Governor has returned.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Government is yet to reply to the Governor’s 26 letters to the Government thus far on the action taken in respect of various issues raised by the Governor, including the one of re-do case concerning Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout in Bengaluru.

But the State Congress Government, taking exception to the Governor’s letters, resolved not to respond to the Governor’s letters and at the same time, had  directed the officials not to send any replies to the Governor.
