Mysuru: The Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) — ACCE(I) — Mysore Centre, is organising its biennial flagship event, Recent Advances in Civil Engineering (RACE-25) Seminar, on Jan. 17 and 18 at MBCT Auditorium in Vishweshwaranagar here. The seminar is on ‘Digital Transformation in Civil Engineering,’ focusing on the latest advancements and transformative trends in the field of Civil Engineering.
Eminent speakers will address the seminar which will be inaugurated tomorrow at 10 am by the chief guest, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Mysuru-Kodagu MP. Rajkumar Kacharla, Vice-President (South), ACCE(I), will be the guest of honour. The Chairmen and Hon. Secretaries of RACE-25 and ACCE (I), Mysore — S. Shashiraj, C.S. Srikanth, Dr. S. Raviraj and Dr. G.P. Chandradhara — will be present.
RACE 25 seminar is an excellent opportunity for practicing civil engineers, consultants, faculty members and students to gain deeper insights into industry trends, new technologies and advancements in the field.

Dr. P.G. Diwakar, Senior Scientist, ISRO Chair Professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies, IISc Campus, Bengaluru, will address the seminar on ‘Space Technology & Modern Tools for Applications & Analytics.’ While in service, he had played a key role in the design & implementation of diverse Space Applications for several Major National Missions. Many awards, including the ‘Globe Sustainability Research Award 2010’ at Stockholm, Sweden, were conferred on him.
Architect Vishu Bhooshan, Associate & a Lead Designer at Zaha Hadid Architects Computation and Design Research Group (ZHA CODE), London, will speak on ‘Research Based Innovations in Architectural Practice.’ He leads the development of a state-of-the-art, proprietary computational code framework to synthesise high-performance geometries, consequently enabling their structural optimisation, parametric modelling and coordination. He was a recipient of ‘Digital Futures Young Award’ in 2022. Incidentally, Vishu is the son our city’s renowned architect and planner, Dr. B.S. Bhooshan.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Head – EDRC Digital, III SBG, L&T Construction, Chennai, will share insights on ‘From Data to Action: Digitisation in Water Infrastructure.’ With an experience of more than two decades in academics and administration, Rajesh Kumar has executed and commissioned many outstanding projects besides being a recipient of many awards.
Prashanth S. Alatgi, Managing Director, Prashant Advanced Survey of India, Pune, will address on ‘Advanced Topographic Surveying using Mobile, UAV / Drone & Backpack LiDAR Technologies.’ His company has the distinction of having completed more than 35,000 kms of Highway, Railway & Airport Topographic Survey Projects.
Dr. C.B. Amarnath, President – India BIM Association, Mumbai, will elaborate on ‘Digital Transformation Trends in Built Environment – Policies, Implementation & Education.’ With expertise in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Amarnath is credited for having built the BIM eco system with a network of more than 45,000 professionals and 500-plus organisations in BIM sector in India.
Dr. Madhavi Latha Gali is a Professor of Civil Engineering and the Chair of the Centre for Sustainable Technologies at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Her current research interests include micro to macro of geomechanics, sustainable soil reinforcement, earthquake geotechnical engineering and rock engineering. She will speak on ‘3D printing in Geotechnical Applications.’
Er. Roshan Purohit, Regional Manager, Trimble Inc., Gurgaon, will deliver his talk on ‘Data Driven Construction.’ With vast experience in Geospatial technologies across fields related to planning, GIS, Surveying and Construction Technologies, Purohit has served many Indian and Multinational companies.
Er. Shanmugam Selva Kumar, General Manager (Retd.), L&T, Chennai, will deliver his talk on ‘9.81 m/sec² – The Science behind the Sikhara’s Journey.’ Working for Larsen & Toubro, he spearheaded the completion of large-scale iconic projects from concept to commissioning in Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Oman & Qatar.
