Mysuru: Mysuru Rangayana Director Satish Tiptur opined that training camps organised by amateur theatre groups brings a new ray of hope for the theatre.

He was speaking after inaugurating the free training camp in theatre and folk art forms organised by Gauthama Educational and Cultural Seva Trust at B.V. Karanth Rangachavadi in Rangayana premises here yesterday.

“By organising such training camps, amateur theatre groups are sowing small seeds in the world of culture. This process is going on for the past few decades. These theatre camps also introduce the theatre to college students, which result in the revival of cultural and Kannada sense among the student community. This in turn will contribute in the continuance of our rich heritage,” Satish Tiptur said.

Continuing, the Rangayana Director said that the theatre camp is a work of ‘Sanmarga,’ which will have a very positive bearing on the society. Recalling that several artistes who were with him in the 2008 training camp have now become International artistes and Directors, he highlighted the role of training camps in shaping artistes.

“Students of different colleges are allowed to perform one play each at Rangayana’s ‘College Rangotsava’ event. The students who are participating in this theatre training camp should take part in the forthcoming College Rangotsava event and efforts will be made to give them an opportunity,” he said.

Kannada and Culture Assistant Director Dr. M.D. Sudarshan, senior theatre artiste B.M. Ramachandra, Trust President Krishnamurthy and others were present on the occasion.
