Mysuru: An Endowment Fund has been created in the name of former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna to preserve his legacy and it is named as Divyachetana S.M. Krishna Endowment Fund.
Maddur MLA K.M. Uday donated Rs. 10 lakh under the Endowment Fund to University of Mysore (UoM) to award Gold Medals to first two toppers in the examinations and MLC Dinesh Gooligowda donated to Rs. 5 lakh to city Sri Ramakrishna Ashram to award a Gold Medal to a student who scores highest marks in the examinations.
While MLA Uday gave DD to VC of University of Mysore Prof. N.K. Lokanath, MLC Dinesh Gooligowda handed over the DD to Swami Muktidanandaji of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram.
Eight such donation funds have been instituted in S.M. Krishna’s name by the elected representatives and admirers of S.M. Krishna from Mandya district. The interest accrued from the funds will be used annually to honour meritorious students, farmers and achievers from various fields.
Speaking on the occasion both the leaders hailed the contributions of S.M. Krishna to both the state and nation. Former MLC D. Madegowda, leaders Vikranth P. Devegowda, H.A. Venkatesh and others were present.
