Learn Kannada and respect other languages: Seer

Mysuru: City’s Avadhoota Datta Peetham Seer Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji said that Kannada is a wonderful language and everyone in Karnataka should learn it.

He was speaking after distributing prosthetic equipment and assistive devices for specially abled persons, senior citizens and hearing aids for hearing impaired children as part of his 83rd birthday celebrations at Nada Mantapa in Sri Ganapathy Ashram premises on Nanjangud Road here yesterday.

Pointing out that any person should learn the native language or local language wherever he/ she goes, Sri Ganapathy Swamiji said that everyone should love their mother tongue and at the same time also respect other languages.

“I will learn the language of the region wherever I go. As such, I have learnt  many languages thus far. There are multiple advantages of learning and speaking many languages. Knowledge of languages will  help in easier communication and business,” he noted.

Pointing out that the Ashram has started a 30-day training course for learning Kannada, the Seer said that people should take part in it and learn the language. Upon learning the language, the participants can write poems, small stories, poetry etc., for which the Ashram will give prizes, he announced.

Stressing on the need for doing exercises and Yoga on a daily basis, the Seer said, doing Pranayama will help keeping our mind calm.

Noting that Pranayama should be performed even before Yoga every day, he said, doing so will help in overcoming many ailments. Sri Ganapathy Swamiji  demonstrated on the way of doing Pranayama on the occasion.

As many as 26 wheelchairs, 6 walkers, 7 crutches and elbow crutches, 10 walking sticks, 3 white cane for blind, 8 special CP chairs, 9 twin devices, 4 standing frames and 20 gym balls were distributed to the beneficiaries on the occasion. Also, a water purification unit was gifted for the benefit of those coming to the DRC office.

The Seer also presented a Rs. 16.50 lakh cheque to Mysore Pinjrapole Society for taking care of cattle.

Ashram’s Junior Pontiff Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji and others were present on the occasion.
