Sir,
This is with reference to the news report titled “M.G. Road returns to daily traffic chaos” in SOM dated June 26 and the response of the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner (DC).
I would like to humbly request the DC and the City Police Commissioner to visit the M.G. Road and the nearby Vegetable Market like a common man in the morning hours. Then they will be able to understand the chaos within the Market too, albeit due to another reason.
There will be scooters, autos and small tempos zipping across at reckless speed inside in all the 5 bays of the Market. The public are at the danger of getting hit either from the back or from the front by the vehicles moving in all directions.
The pedestrians are lucky if they come out unscathed. During rains, there will be sludge inside adding more misery and danger to the pedestrian buyers.
I request a total ban on two and three wheelers within the Market premises considering the safety of public. Fixing bollards at entry and exit points is one of the options to eradicate this problem.
