Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha has organised ‘Sanmarga,’ a Bharatanatyam recital programme by four senior disciples of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy at the Sabha premises on JLB Road on July 27 at 6 pm, as an Endowment Programme in Memory of Kamalamma & Gopalakrishna Chetty.
The event is sponsored by A. Shankar Chetty & Sons, Jewellers who are also celebrating Centenary Year of their Business.
The performers are Dr. Lakshmi Rekha Arun, Vidu. Vibha Girish, Vidu. Sreelakshmi Thejas and Vidu. Soundarya.

Dr. Lakshmi Rekha Arun, a Bharatanatyam performer, researcher, nattuvanar and teacher that has seamlessly integrated Yoga into Pandanallur style of dancing, under her guru Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy’s signature style, the Vasundhara Baani, visually aesthetic and intellectually appealing choreographies for both solo and group, have garnered both critical acclaim and popular appeal. She has been curating and organising the festivals Laasya Sambhrama and Laasya Saadhaki under her banner, Laasya Academy of Dance, Bengaluru, for 15 years now. Newest addition to this list is Laasya Purusha, a festival exclusive to male artistes. This Trust has multiple rural outreach programmes that is helping rural students in academics and arts, called “Halliyedege Laasya.” It aims to educate interested village children in Bharatanatyam, Karnatak classical music and Yoga.
Vidu. Vibha Girish, trained under the able guidance of SNA awardee Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy for about 30 years, is a DD graded Bharatanatyam dancer. She is also a Software Lead by profession. She has excelled in all KSEEB dance exams securing first rank in Vidwat exams. She had been selected by Bal Bhavan, India, to perform in Delhi from Mysuru city. Recently she, along with her Guru Bhagini, performed in Tirupati.
Vidu. Sreelakshmi Thejas, daughter of Ramaa Venkatesh and H.N. Venkatesh, even as toddler, showed a flair for dance. Her parents encouraged and supported Sreelakshmi to learn Bharatanatyam which brought her to the “Vasundhara Performing Arts Centre” of the renowned Guru Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy. Over the years, as part of her learning process she has gracefully participated in many dance productions with her Guru, on auspicious occasions in temples and prestigious platforms winning many laurels. Sreelakshmi holds a Vidwat degree in Bharatanatyam and also holds Master’s Degree in Performing Arts in the field of dance from Tanjore University, Tamil Nadu.
Vidu. Soundarya began her Bharatanatyam journey at the age of 4 under the guidance of her guru and aunt, Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, and has successfully completed the Junior, Senior and Vidwat examinations in Bharatanatyam. Her Rangapravesha was held on April 7, 2024 at Jaganmohan Palace.
Soundarya has performed at prestigious venues such as Mysore Palace, Nadaneerajanam (SVBC) Tirupati, Kateel Temple, Beluru Mahotsava and internationally in Kathmandu, Nepal. She has portrayed key roles in major dance dramas including Sampoorna Ramayana, Vidyunmadanika, Saptagireesha Panigraha, Durga and Sri Krishnamadhuryam with her Guru.
