Mysureans have played good Samaritans by offering fruits, juices, water and snacks to Forest Department staff and volunteers engaged in dousing wild fire in Bandipur forest range.
About 400 people are engaged in extinguishing the raging fire and the Forest Department Officials had pleaded for help as acute shortage of food and water was a problem. The campaign to collect food and water from donors began at the Zoo premises here on Friday and Zoo authorities arranged 500kg water melon and 200kg of banana. A few members of public offered biscuits, buns, bread, chocolates, bottles of water and juices.

Eco-Green Force President Pankaj Jain, Secretary Sushmin and other members handed over the items to DRFO (Bandipur range) Anil.
Yesterday too a Tata Ace vehicle filled with fruits and other items was despatched to Bandipur.
Helping hands to combat Forests on Fire
Several organisations and individuals are responding for the call by the Department of Forests. Water, jaggery, fruits, ORS, Bread and fruit juices are being brought by organisations and individuals to the Mysore Zoo and the authorities have made arrangements to send the donated food and beverage to various forest camps where Department staff and volunteers are working day and night to douse the forest fire.
Mysureans have always demonstrated concern whenever nature ravages and have stepped in with inputs required to quench the thirst and hunger. This is yet again a show of commitment to do their bit to protect forest which they have always enjoyed when it’s green.
