Farmer dumps cabbage at Bandipalya: Middleman pays Rs. 30,000 relief

Mysore/Mysuru: A cabbage farmer from Hassan, who suffered a loss of over Rs. 1.50 lakh after being forced to dump 14 tonnes of produce at the APMC market in Bandipalya, Mysuru, received Rs. 30,000 in compensation from the middleman who had initially assured him a good price but later backed out, citing alleged damage to the cabbages.

Star of Mysore had published a news item titled ‘Cabbage Dump!’ on Aug. 1.

Ranganath is the farmer from Hassan who had dumped the cabbage. Following the publication of the news item, APMC officials issued a notice to middleman Chandrappa, who paid Rs. 30,000 as compensation to Ranganath.

APMC Supervisor Nagaraju said that middleman Chandrappa had been warned not to repeat such incident in the future and was made to pay the compensation to farmer Ranganath.
