Bengaluru, Aug. 9 (Agencies)- Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP and the Election Commission, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Government was “made through theft” and claimed that complete access to electoral data would prove that “seats across India were stolen.”

He was addressing the gathering during the Congress party’s “Our Vote, Our Right, Our Struggle” protest against the BJP at Freedom Park yesterday.

“If we get this data, we will prove that not just one, but seats across India were stolen. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was made through theft,” said Rahul Gandhi accusing the Election Commission of colluding with the ruling party to manipulate results.

He said the 2024 mandate rested on a margin of just 25 seats and that 25 constituencies were won with margins below 34,000 votes. “This is an attack on the foundational idea of the Constitution — one man, one vote,” he said, warning that those responsible “will be caught one by one.”

Citing his party’s investigation into the Mahadevapura Assembly segment under Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha seat, Rahul Gandhi claimed that out of 6.5 lakh votes, 1.25 lakh were fraudulent. He alleged the irregularities took five forms — duplicate voters casting multiple votes in different booths, fake or incomplete addresses, bulk registrations at small dwellings, invalid or missing photographs and misuse of Form 6 for first-time voters, sometimes for individuals shown as aged over 90.

He alleged that the Election Commission denied the Congress an electronic copy of the voter list, refused to share polling booth videography and later changed rules to destroy such footage within 45 days. “They know that if people start questioning this data, their entire system will collapse,” he said.

Meanwhile, All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge, who also spoke alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections through the people’s mandate but had “stolen” them.

Accusing the BJP leadership of large-scale electoral fraud, Kharge said Rahul Gandhi had  exposed irregularities in the Mahadevapura Assembly segment, uncovering discrepancies involving 6.6 lakh voters and described the 2024 elections as a “betrayal of the people.”

In his address, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah charged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has no moral right to continue in office in the wake of alleged large-scale voter fraud during the Lok Sabha elections and demanded his immediate resignation.
