Hundreds take part in Run for Ganesha

Mysuru: Nearly 650 runners, including 250 children, took part in the ‘Run for Ganesha’ 5K and 3K run organised by Madhava Krupa Ganesha Utsava Committee of Shri Janajagarana Trust in association with Kamakshi Hospitals with a message ‘Say no to drugs,’ here this morning.

The event was flagged-off by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple. Speaking on the occasion,  Yaduveer called upon people to use eco-friendly Ganesha idols for the festival and also urged youngsters to stay away from narcotics. Calling upon youths not to fall prey to drugs, he said youngsters should concentrate on building their future and shaping their careers.

The 5K Run flagged from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Mysore Palace North Gate, passed through Silver Jubilee Clock Tower, Gandhi Square, Dufferin Clock, D.D. Urs Road, JLB Road, MDA, Ramaswamy Circle, Chamaraja Double Road, Bengaluru-Nilgiri  Road, Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar Circle before culminating at the starting point — Palace North Gate.

Meanwhile, the 3K Run started from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, passed via Silver Jubilee Clock Tower, Gandhi Square, Dufferin Clock, D.D. Urs Road, Shivarampet Road, Sayyaji Rao Road, Gun House, Benglauru-Nilgiri Road, Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar Circle and ended at Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple.
