Mysore/Mysuru: A bike rally was organised to create public awareness on HIV-AIDS prevention, by the District Administration in association with Department of Health and Family Welfare, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society, Bengaluru and District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit, in the city yesterday.
DLSA Member-Secretary K.K. Amarnath and District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. P.C. Kumaraswamy flagged off the bike rally in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple, Mysore Palace North Gate.
The bike rally passed through JLB Road, Railway Station Circle, Irwin Road, Bus Stand, Theobald Road and SP Office Circle, before concluding at the premises of DHO’s Office.
District RCH (Reproductive and Child Health) Officer Dr. Mohammed Shiraz Ahmed was present at the event.
826 infected: In Mysuru district alone, a total of 826 persons have been tested HIV positive. Of the total 1,77,187 people tested for HIV-AIDS in the present fiscal (2024-25), 803 (0.40 percent) tested positive, including 23 pregnant women (0.05 percent) of the total 40,036 expectant mothers subjected to the test.
