Serial accidents: Three children killed in Chamarajanagar

Chamarajanagar, Sept. 7 (KS)- Three children were killed while three others sustained injuries in a serial accident between a moped, car and a truck on National Highway (NH) 948 Bypass Road near Gaalipura Layout, here yesterday.

The deceased have been identified as Mehran (13), son of Farman and Adan Pasha (9), son of Ayub, both residents of Gaalipura Layout and Rehan (8), son of Kaleem, a resident of K.P. Mohalla. While Mehran died on the spot, Adan and Rehan succumbed to injuries at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru. Deceased Mehran’s brother 11-year-old Faisal and two others who have sustained serious injuries are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mysuru.

The children, who returned from school yesterday morning, were proceeding on the moped from Gaalipura Layout towards Karivaradarayana Betta and when they were crossing NH 948 Bypass Road, a car coming from Satyamangala side hit the moped, resulting in the car losing control and ramming into the truck coming in the opposite direction.

All the children riding the moped were thrown on the road after the moped got stuck under the truck and one of them were killed on the spot.

The injured children were rushed to CIMS Hospital, where they were provided first-aid and were later shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru where two others succumbed to injuries yesterday night. Two persons in the car have also sustained minor injuries.

Traffic Sub-Inspector Hanumantha Uppar and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar besides registering a case. MLA C. Puttarangashetty visited CIMS Hospital and consoled the parents of the two deceased children besides enquiring the condition of the injured with the Police.
