Mysore/Mysuru: An evening of Yakshagana Bayalata will be staged at Sri Krishna Dhama in Gangothri Layout tomorrow (Sept. 12) at 5.30 pm, under the auspices of Mysuru art lovers.
The performances will include episodes such as Keechaka Vadhe, Mainda and Dvivida.
On this occasion, veteran maddale (percussion) artiste Padre Shridhar will be felicitated for his service to the art form.
The event will be presented by Shri Mahaganapathi Yakshagana Mandali from Nidle, Dharmasthala, which includes popular artistes associated with the famous temples of Dharmasthala, Kateel and Hanumagiri. The himmela (background music team) comprises Bhagavatharu (lead singers) Chinmaya Bhat Kalladka and Jayarama Adooru, Lakshminarayana Rao on maddale, Padre Shridhar on chende and Dinesh Neerkere on chakratala. Costumes and make-up (vesha bhushana) will be handled by Kushal, Lakshmi Sha, Prashant, Kartik and Raghu.
On mummela (main stage), female roles (stree vesha) will be performed by Muralidhara Kannadikatte and Yatish Karkala, while comedy roles by Balakrishna Maniyani Mavvar. Colourful banna vesha roles by Mukesh Devadhar Nidale, Jagadabhirama Padubidre, Ravikumar Mundaje, Yatish Rai Mundaje, Shrinidhi Bhat Peruvedi, Satish Bettampadi, Raviraj Bhat Paneyala, Prasad Savanuru, Sunil Kaniyuru, Pradeepkumar Moodabidre, Mahadevaswami Mysuru, Nidale Ishwarachandra and Nidale Govinda Bhat.
