Wrestlers fall in seconds

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of the ongoing Dasara festivities, the wrestling arena at D. Devaraj Urs Multipurpose Sports Complex has come alive with a series of gripping matches that drew cheers and applause from an enthusiastic crowd.

The fourth day of the Dasara Wrestling Tournament yesterday saw seasoned wrestlers from across Karnataka lock horns in intense contests that showcased strength, strategy and sportsmanship.

The highlight of the day was a 20-minute bout between Pailwan Muthu from Gadag and Pailwan Gangadhar from Belagavi, with Pailwan Muthu emerging victorious to thunderous applause and celebratory whistles from the audience.

Over 50 wrestlers from various districts participated in more than 25 matches, many of which were fiercely competitive. 16 bouts ended in draws, while others saw swift victories with lightning pins.

In one of the fastest wins of the day, Pailwan Ravikumar from Sihalli defeated Mohammad from Chitradurga in just 30 seconds. Pailwan Chandru from Rammanahalli overpowered Pailwan Chandrashekhar from Hunsur in 40 seconds, while Srinivas from Mellahalli triumphed over Pailwan Sasim Allam from Rajeevnagar in three minutes.

Other notable victories included Pailwan Mohammad Gayazuddin from Mysuru defeating Pailwan Nandkishore from Palahalli, Pailwan Mahadevaswamy from Kalale winning against Pailwan Sanjay from Kyathamaranahalli, Pailwan Siddharth Nayak from Sunnadakeri besting Pailwan Ghurkhan from Rajendranagar, and Pailwan Rangaraju from Kalale overcoming Pailwan Chandu from Belagola.

Women’s wrestling

The women’s wrestling matches added further excitement to the day. A keenly watched bout between Pailwan Alina from Mysuru and Pailwan Shiksha from Bannur ended with Pailwan Shiksha securing a win in just 40 seconds.

Meanwhile, the match between Pailwan Spoorthi from Bengaluru and Pailwan Shambhavi from Mangaluru concluded in a draw.
