October 30, 2025

Mysore/Mysuru: More than 500 Police personnel, including senior Police officials, took part in the 5K Unity Run organised as part of 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in city this morning.

The Unity Run was flagged off by ADGP (Training) Alok Kumar at Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) premises in Nazarbad, who later also took part in the run. He completed the 5K Run with a timing of 24:31.74 secs.

Later, addressing the participants, Alok Kumar briefed Police trainees the need for maintaining fitness and discipline while serving in the department.

He also said the Unity Run had been organised to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose revolutionary works should be an inspiration for all. He added that the Unity Run was also organised to showcase unity among the Police personnel as one family irrespective of their ranks.

Alok Kumar also said that with changes in pattern of crime in the recent days, Police personnel had been provided training in accordance with the latest developments and technological advancements and laws.

“Earlier, Police Department had to wait for the Court orders to file cases against those threatening the witnesses and complainants. However, the latest order from Supreme Court has given the department to file cases against those involved in threatening the witnesses and complainants,” he added.

Speaking about growing instances of cyber crimes, Alok Kumar said, the fraudsters were operating in an organised manner with their operations spreading Dubai, Hong Kong and Cambodia and other countries, when compared to earlier days when the criminals used to operate from remote places  within our country.
