Mysuru: The District Administration will celebrate the 538th birth anniversary of Saint Kanakadasa on Nov. 8 at Kalamandira in city from 12 noon, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. P. Shivaraju at a preliminary meeting held at DC office auditorium to discuss preparations to celebrate Kanaka Jayanti. The stage programme will be preceded by a Geeta Gayana programme, he said.
A colourful procession, accompanied by Police Band, a tableau of Kanakadasa and art troupes, will begin from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple premises, Palace North Gate, on Nov. 8 at 9 am.
The ADC instructed officials to organise debate, essay writing and fancy dress competitions at schools and colleges.
Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials were asked to take care of pandal, seating arrangements, drinking water, decorations and ensure cleanliness at the venues.
Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director Dr. M.D. Sudarshan, former MLA M.K. Somashekar, Kanaka Jayanti Celebration Committee Asst. Secretary Nagendra, ex-Corproator M.C. Chikkanna, community leaders M. Mahadevegowda, S. Subramanya and officials of various departments were present during the meeting.
