Mysore/Mysuru: Sanjay Kumar (43), who worked as a security guard with city-based SRR Security Agency, was found dead while on duty at Open Air Theatre in Manasagangothri, here this morning.

The incident came to light this morning when Pourakarmikas attached to the University arrived at Open Air Theatre and found Sanjay lying on the steps. Soon, they informed the concerned officials who later informed the Police. On receiving information, Jayalakshmipuram Police visited the spot and conducted mahazar before shifting the body to K.R. Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Following Sanjay’s death, members of University of Mysore Research Scholars Association, AITUC, Mysuru Unit and Security Workers Union staged a protest in front of University of Mysore Crawford Hall demanding action against the security agency.

The protestors accused the security agency of harassment, stating that Sanjay was not granted leave for the past 11 months despite several requests. They also demanded compensation for Sanjay’s family.

“Before being posted at Open Air Theatre, Sanjay was posted at the exit gate of Crawford Hall and later at the Oriental Research Institute without being granted leave,” they alleged.

Family members of the deceased have also filed a complaint at the Lakshmipuram Police Station seeking action against those responsible for Sanjay’s death.
