City based writer S.L. Varala-kshmi Manjunath has been conferred the prestigious Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Memorial Award, given by Bengaluru’s Mico Kannada Balaga. Varalakshmi has many works to her credit including ‘Srigandha’ and ‘Bhavasharadhi’ collection of poems and ‘Jeevanaraga,’ a collection of stories. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and a citation. The award will be conferred during the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations to be held at Mico Factory premises in Bidadi near Bengaluru on Nov. 19.
