Congress resumes ‘Vote Chori’ signature campaign

November 23, 2025

Mysore/Mysuru: The City and District Congress resumed the party’s ‘Vote Chori’ (Vote theft) signature campaign in city with N.R. MLA Tanveer Sait launching the campaign in Vidyanagar on Bannur Road yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sait said AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi had earlier highlighted how ‘Vote theft’ happened in Mahadevapura Assembly segment of Bengaluru and Haryana Assembly polls and this has also been brought to the notice of the Election Commission of India (ECI) with proof. However, this ‘Vote Chori’ has continued as this is very much evident in the just concluded Bihar Assembly polls.

“The ECI in the name of SIR (Special Intensive Revision) of electoral rolls, dropped as many as 64 lakh voters from the electoral rolls of Bihar before the Assembly polls there. The ECI has not given any reason for the deletion. This apart, the BJP had credited Rs.10,000 to the account of each of the women voters of Bihar, which is a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct. But the ECI did not take any action in this regard,” Sait said, while  accusing the ECI of behaving in a partisan manner.

Now it has been planned to collect 80,000 signatures in N.R. Assembly segment in the second leg of the campaign, he said.

City Congress President R. Murthy, KEA Chairman Ayub Khan, former Minister Kote M. Shivanna and others were present.
