Sir,
Despite the installation of hundreds of traffic cameras across Mysuru — at signals, highways and busy junctions — traffic violations appear to be increasing day by day.
It has become common to witness triple riding, signal jumping and the use of mobile phones while driving, especially among the youths riding two-wheelers.
This raises an important question: Are these cameras actually functioning, or are the authorities being too lenient in enforcing the rules?
If violations continue unchecked despite heavy investment in surveillance infrastructure, it strongly suggests gaps in maintenance, monitoring or follow-through.
If this situation persists, Mysuru risks moving down the same path as Bengaluru, where unmanaged violations eventually snowballed into severe traffic chaos.
Mysuru still has an opportunity to prevent such an outcome — but only if corrective action is taken now.
I urge the traffic authorities concerned to ensure that all cameras are fully functional, enforcement is consistent and violators are held accountable before the situation becomes irreversible.
