DC releases Leprosy Case Detection Campaign poster

November 26, 2025

Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy and Zilla Panchayat CEO S. Ukesh Kumar released the posters and banners of Leprosy Case Detection Campaign (LCDC), organised from Nov. 24 to Dec. 9 across the district.

The campaign has been organised under National Leprosy Eradication programme from the Office of Joint Director (Leprosy), Bengaluru.

DC Reddy stated, if the symptoms of leprosy like skin lesions (discoloured, numb or painless patches/bumps) are detected and treated at early stage, the disease can be completely cured. If neglected, the patients may become handicap. Hence, the benefits of campaign must be utilised to build a ‘Leprosy Free India.’

The bacteria containing the infection spreads through cough, from person to person. However, there is no need to fear about the disease.  Instead of keeping it a secret, the symptoms should be brought to the notice of nearby Medical Officer of Primary Health Centre (PHC), he said.

The staff of all Gram Panchayats, Town Municipal Councils (TMCs) and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) should cooperate with the Health and Family Welfare Department staff, involved in the survey and create awareness among people with the help of public representatives, added the DC.

MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, District Leprosy Eradication Officer Dr.G. Brinda, Assistant Statistical Officer Anil Christy, physiotherapist Dr. R.T. Shruti, Health Inspector G.S. Sumanth,Paramedical Worker J. Mahesh Kumar and staff were present on the occasion.
