Weekend Music Concerts at Mysore Vasudevacharya’s house

Mysore/Mysuru: The heritage house of Mysore Vasudevacharya, near Agrahara, in city will be hosting two music concerts during the weekend.

Vid. Jayanth Krishnamurthi, now settled in the United States, will be presenting a vocal concert on Saturday (Dec. 20) at 10.30 am. He will be accompanied by Vidu. R. Varalakshmi  on violin and Vid. B.S. Shubhang on mridanga.

Rangan Brothers — Raghuveer and Narayan — from Melbourne, Australia, will be presenting a Karnatak vocal duet on Sunday (Dec. 21) at 10 am. They will be supported by Vidu. Prithvi Bhaskar on violin and Vid. Ganesha Ragavan on mridanga.

Profiles

Vid. Jayanth began training in Karnatak music under Anandhi Venkat and continued under late Padma Srinivasan from New Jersey, USA. He trained under Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. S. Sowmya for many years and also received training from O.S. Thyagarajan. He is currently a disciple of Gokul Chandramouli Iyer of Maryland, USA. Jayanth has given concerts in the United States and in India (Margazhi Season) over the years. He currently works as an Aerospace Engineer for Lockheed Martin                   in the US.

Vidu. Varalakshi, a disciple of Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy, has received the Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy Scholarship and has been performing at leading Sabhas and organisations for a couple of years now.

Vid. Shubhang, a promising young artiste, has learnt under Vid. Shivashankar Swamy and Vid. G.S. Ramanujan and is presently a disciple of Vid. Delhi Sairam. He is a Software Engineer by profession.

Rangan Brothers were disciples of famed artiste O.S. Thyagarajan since 2010. At childhood, they learnt from their mother Vijayashree  and then from Vasumathi Subramanian, Melbourne. Commencing concert performances at an early age, Rangan Brothers regularly perform in reputed Sabhas during the Chennai Music Season and in Australia and NZ. They have a concert experience of over 15 years. They have won many music awards and have been inducted to the Hall of Fame (Live4You) in 2022.

Prithvi, daughter of Vid. H.N. Bhaskar, has been trained by her father and grandparents Vidu. Rajalakshmi and Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy. A graded artiste of Akashvani, she has performed many vocal and violin concerts, and has accompanied senior artistes too. 

Vid. Ganesha Ragavan, a senior student of Sridhar Chari, is a highly sought-after mridangist in Melbourne. He has accompanied an extensive roster of artistes at major venues and festivals including the Melbourne Trinity Festival.
