Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. K.N. Amruthesh, former Chairman, Department of Studies in Botany and currently the Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), University of Mysore (UoM), has been awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the National Academy of Sciences (FNASc) for the year 2025.
The award ceremony was held on Dec. 9 at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, Assam.
He was conferred the Fellowship by Prof. Vinod K. Singh, President, National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI).
The award carries a Certificate, Citation, Medal and Fellowship Pin recognising his significant contributions to Agricultural and Plant Sciences.
Dr. Amruthesh is the first faculty from the Department of Botany, UoM, to receive this distinction from the NSAI, which is the country’s first Science Academy, established in 1930 and supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). It is also recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India. NASI recognises outstanding scientists whose work in advanced research, benefits the society.
Hailing from a rural background, Dr. Amruthesh completed his schooling in Kannada medium, making his achievement all the more inspiring. He had previously received a Fellowship of Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (FKSTA) in 2022 and Fellowship of National Academy of Biological Sciences (FNABS) in 2023 for his exceptional research in Agricultural and Plant Sciences.
