Mysore/Mysuru: To end the menace of agents and middlemen, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) has launched 26 online services for the benefit of vehicle owners.

Addressing a press meet at RTO (West) Office in Chamarajapuram this morning, RTO Vasanth Eshwar Chauhan said the services have been introduced through ‘Sarathi’ software.

The online service for issuance of 26 types of services will eliminate the menace of agents and at the same time maintain transparency in delivery of services, Chauhan said adding the services include issuance of Driving Licence (DL), Learner’s Licence (LLR), Registration Certificate (RC), Transfer of ownership of vehicles, No Objection Certificate (NOC) for transfer, Duplicate DL, RC etc., in case of loss and the like.

As per Government Order, automated driving tracks are being used for issuance of DL and Automated Fitness Testing Centres too have been set up for testing fitness of vehicles, he said.

Reacting to complaints on technical issues in Mysuru RTO Office, Chauhan admitting that technical glitches are hampering services in Mysuru, said that the fees are being collected from service seekers at Mandya and Tumakuru RTO Offices for the time being and the related tests are conducted in Mysuru.

He  expressed hope that the technical glitches in the software at Mysuru RTO Office will be resolved in a month.

Replying to a question on the delay in issuance of cards in respect of DL, RC, FC etc., he said the cards are being printed at the Transport Department’s Central Office in Bengaluru and as such there has been over 15-day delay in issuance of the cards, which will be addressed shortly.

Noting that the distribution of 8,000 cards is pending in the old software, he said that these cards will be issued in stages with the new software.

Continuing, Chauhan said in keeping with the Government’s direction not to issue FC for vehicles aged over 15 years, FC will not be issued to any Government vehicle that have completed 15 years of service.

On reports of old KSRTC buses emitting thick smoke from exhaust, he said that the Transport Department will soon hold a meeting with KSRTC officials to discuss the matter.
