Mysore/Mysuru: The Karnataka High Court (HC) has stayed the elections to the Executive Body of Karnataka State Co-operative Federation that was scheduled for Mar.20.
The election authorities had set in motion the electoral process for electing the Executive Body for a five-year term, with the issuance of poll notification on Mar. 3, according to which the filing of nomination papers took place from Mar. 6 to Mar. 12 and the voting was scheduled for Mar. 20.
But, Karnataka Credit Co-operative Societies Federation President S. Chandrashekar of Mysuru, also a former MCDCC (Mysuru-Chamarajanagar District Co-operative Central) Bank President, moved the Court seeking opportunities for SC/ST candidates in the elections as per the State Government’s new by-laws for Co-operative bodies.
The High Court, which heard the petition, granted stay to the elections scheduled for Mar. 20, it is learnt.
