600 people avail free kidney check-up at Sigma Hospital

Mysore/Mysuru: As many as 600 people took part in the free kidney check-up camp organised by Sigma Hospital at its premises in city recently.

Addressing the patients at the camp, Senior Kidney Transplant Specialist Dr. K.M. Madappa emphasised that everyone should undergo a health check-up at least once a year.

Pointing out that individuals with high blood pressure and diabetes are at greater risk of complications affecting the kidneys, heart, eyes and other organs, Dr. Madappa said that early detection of kidney disease enables effective treatment and added that the hospital offers comprehensive facilities and a dedicated team for kidney care.

Nephrologist Dr. Aniket Prabhakar, who too spoke, stated that individuals with diabetes should regularly undergo kidney check-ups and kidney diseases can be detected through urine tests and kidney scans, after which appropriate treatment is provided.

Hospital Director Dr. Rajeshwari Madappa mentioned that the hospital has been serving successfully due to the encouragement of people from Mysuru and surrounding areas. She highlighted that Dr. Aniket Prabhakar, who leads the Nephrology Department, secured a top national rank in his studies and Dr. K.M. Madappa secured a top rank in DNB during his time and has 27 years of experience at JSS Hospital. “He was among the first to perform kidney transplant surgeries in Mysuru after Bengaluru. The hospital has successfully conducted 95 kidney transplant surgeries, which is a matter of pride,” she added.

Managing Director of the Hospital S. Gnanashankar stated that with experienced doctors available at the hospital, such camps aim to raise awareness and help people avoid serious health issues through timely care and encouraged people to seek guidance and benefit from these services.
