Bengaluru: With Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) giving its nod for power tariff hike, the power companies in the State (BESCOM, CESCOM, HESCOM, MESCOM and GESCOM) are all set to hike power tariff soon.
The power companies had been pressing the KERC for upward revision of power tariff in order to offset mounting losses. The KERC has allowed a 56 paise per unit hike in BESCOM limits and 15 paise per unit hike in CESCOM (Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation, Mysuru) limits. KERC had revised power tariff in March last year for a three-year period on multi-year basis. As per this revision, power tariff hike will come into effect from this April.
Following the hike, power consumers will have to be ready to pay more.
