Actress Anu Prabhakar inaugurates day-1 events of Basava Jayanti celebrations

Mysore/Mysuru: “We are witnessing a world where wars, jealousy, cheating, hatred and injustice have become dominant. Global welfare that involves love and affection, peace and harmonious living, can be achieved if we tread the path of Basava Marga,” said noted actress Anu Prabhakar.

She was speaking after inaugurating the stage programme of the two-day Basava Jayanti celebrations organised jointly by Mysuru District Basava Balagagala Okkuta, Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha and a host of other Veerashaiva-Lingayat Associations and organisations at Kalamandira on Hunsur Road here yesterday.

Pointing out that it is important to lead an indiscriminatory,  non-partisan and harmonious life, Anu Prabhakar said that reading Vachanas will help us in developing  intellectual thoughts and ideas. This will help in making our children lead a better life, she maintained.

Police Officer Priyadarshini Sanekoppa, in her address, said, there are life lessons in Vachanas. Vachanas are also our Guru, friend and philosopher, she said adding that Vachanas give us strength when we have to face stressful and challenging situations.

“There will be no need to bow before anyone when we do our ‘Kayaka’ (work) with honesty and dedication. But we will only be doing injustice if there is dishonesty. There are many scientific thoughts in the principles of Basavadi Sharanas. But the thing is that we have to find them,” she said while stressing on the need for always treading the path of ‘Satya Marga.’

Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Mahasabha Women’s Wing President Veena Kashappanavar said, Basavanna advocated equal opportunities for women in the 12th Century itself. A healthy society can be built by adopting and following Vachana philosophy in life, she pointed out.

Actor Amith Mosambayanahalli and painter Nandita Mahesh were felicitated on the occasion.

Mariyala Immadi Mutt Seer  Sri Murugharajendra Swamiji, Usha Pandit, Nagaveni & Basava Balagagala Okkuta President M. Chandrashekar were present.
