Legal profession now a social responsibility: Justice Aravind

April 28, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: Advocacy has undergone a significant transformation in recent years and the legal profession is no longer seen as a last resort but as a social responsibility, observed High Court Justice K.V. Aravind.

He was speaking at the valedictory of the 23rd Corporate Law Moot Court Competition organised by JSS Law College in association with Surana & Surana International Attorneys at the College premises in Kuvempunagar recently.

“Earlier, clients approached advocates seeking solutions to their problems. However, with the advent of technology, increased legal awareness and access to information, clients now come not only with problems but also with suggestions on the course of action,” he said.

Stressing the role of advocates in society, Justice Aravind said they must act as the voice of the unheard and take responsibility for protecting Constitutional and legal rights, apart from safeguarding the interests of their clients.

Senior Advocate T. Suryanarayana, Preetham Surana of Surana & Surana International Attorneys, CGST Assistant Commissioner N. Manjula, JSS Law College Principal Dr. N. Vanishree and CEO Prof. K.S. Suresh were present.

The competition was inaugurated on Friday by High Court Justice S.G. Pandit. JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath and Senior Advocate Preetham Surana were present.
