Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. B. Nirmala (daughter of late Mallamma and late G.M. Battimallappa I.A.A.S.), a retired Associate Professor and former Head of Hindi Department, Maharani’s Science College, Mysuru, received ‘Karnataka Excellence Award for Lifetime Achievement in Education, Hindi Literature, Social Service, Sports and Leadership’ during the Karnataka Awards-2026 Ceremony, organised by National Excellence Council (NEC), at Town Hall in Bengaluru recently.
The award was presented by Shruti, cine actress and Gopinath Rao (IEDS), retired Deputy Director, MSME, Govt. of India, in the presence of other dignitaries.
A Poet, Writer, Social Activist, Senior NSS Officer and Sports Woman, Dr. Nirmala is also the recipient of International Pride of Woman Award-2026 from Shanthi Foundation, Uttar Pradesh; Inspirational Leadership Award-2026 (for Education Literature, Social Service and Sports) from The Indian Forum for Social Leaders and Achievers, Tamil Nadu; Stree Ratna Award-2026 for Education from Natya Performing Art Institute and Research Centre, Mysuru; Naari Sanchetana Award-2026 for Education and Social Service from MD Education Society, Chhattisgarh and an Appreciation Certificate from Hindi Ki Goonj Institution, Tokyo, Japan.
She was honoured by Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva-Lingayat Mahasabha, Mysuru Unit, Lions International District 317-G and Lalitadri Mahila Balaga of JSS Layout, Mysuru, this year for her valuable services and contributions to the society.
