Man cheats Court by submitting fake documents as surety

Mysore/Mysuru: The In-charge CEO of the Principal District and Sessions Court (PDJ Court) has lodged a complaint with the Lakshmipuram Police seeking action against a man who has been charged of submitting fake documents to the Court as surety for an accused in a case, for getting bail.

Following the complaint, the Police have arrested one Shivaraja of Goge Hebbal village in Manvi taluk of Raichur district.

Shivaraja had submitted a fake Aadhaar card in the name of Doddaramanna of Mullur village in Mayasandra Hobli of Turuvekere taluk and the RTC of a land in Survey No. 5 of Mullur village as surety to Shreyas Gowda,who is Accused No. 2  in CEN Police station crime No.162/2024 on June 28, 2025, for getting bail. The Court getting suspicious about the submitted documents, summoned Doddaramanna and Shivaraja to appear before the Court. Subsequently, Doddaramanna appeared before the Court, during which he deposed that he did not stand as a surety for anyone and the documents submitted to the Court in his name were wholly fake.

Later, Shivaraju appeared before the Court on Apr. 28, during which he confessed that he had submitted fake documents to the Court as surety for getting bail to accused Shreyas Gowda.

During his confession, Shivaraja said he worked as a mason at Ramanagara and he  acted as told by his Maistry Rangaswamy, who said that he would give him (Shivaraja) fake documents in the name of Doddaramanna and that his job was to present them to the Court as surety, for which he was paid  Rs.1,000. As the Police came to his house in search of him, he himself appeared before the Court and confessed to his wrongdoing.

Following Shivaraju’s Court confession, the 7th Principal District and Sessions Court Judge directed the incharge CEO of PDJ court to lodge a complaint with the Police, seeking legal action against the accused for having cheated the Court. Acting on the complaint, the Lakshmipuram police took Shivaraja into custody and are investigating.
