Initiated into music by Vid. Subbaraya Shastry, the family saw Vid. Shamanna and Vid. Anooru Suryanarayana taking music to great heights.
Vid. Ramakrishna, a renowned violinist and professor in Bengaluru University, carried on the legacy and his sons Vid. Dattatreya Sharma and Vid. Anantha Krishna Sharma, both leading mridangists in the contemporary field of Karnatak music circuit, have helped expand the popularity of the musical family.
Sons of these two, the fifth generation artistes have already made a mark in the field, responding positively to the present day requirements, that call for collaborations and fusion music.
Saturday’s programme, scheduled to start at 10.30 am at Sri Acharya’s residence near Basaveshvara Circle on New Sayyaji Rao Road, is open to all music enthusiasts.
