Garbage dumping & burning

May 23, 2026

Sir,

This is to bring to your attention the ongoing issue in Ward No. 27, Lashkar Mohalla, specifically opposite my residence and directly across from the Government Urdu Primary School, Mohammed Sait Block.

For the past several weeks, people have been dumping garbage in this area, turning it into an unhygienic spot. During the night, some individuals are also using the place for urination and, at times, as a shed for cows.

This has resulted in foul smell, mosquito breeding and allergy-related health issues for residents. Earlier, after the issue was highlighted through this column, the MCC had taken action and temporarily installed barricades at the spot.

However, the barricades were later removed, following which people once again began dumping garbage.

Moreover, over the last few days, garbage has been set on fire regularly, causing severe smoke pollution and inconvenience to nearby residents. The smoke is leading to breathing difficulties and suffocation, especially among elderly people and children living in the area.

I request the MCC Commissioner to take strict and permanent measures to prevent further dumping of garbage at this location. Installation of warning boards, permanent barricades, regular monitoring or other effective preventive steps may help ensure that the surroundings of the school remain clean, hygienic and safe for the public.
