Pharmacy Education prog. on Habit Forming Drugs held

Mysuru: A Continuous Pharmacy Education (CPE) programme on Habit Forming Drugs was organised for Chemists and Druggists and Wholesale Pharma Distributors of city at Farooqia College of Pharmacy in city recently.

The event was organised by the Drugs Control Department in association with Mysore Chemists & Druggists Association, Farooqia College of Pharmacy, Health & Family Welfare Department and Labour Department.

Deputy Drugs Controller C.M. Shivakumar delivered a talk on Prescription Record Maintenance of TB patients which  will help in tracking patient’s lifestyle in complete eradication of Tuberculosis.

While Dr. C. Suvarna, District TB Officer, highlighted on how pharmacists can be helpful to the Department of Tuberculosis in making India free from TB, Nagraj, Assistant Drugs Controller, spoke on prescription data maintenance, storage and dispensing conditions on habit forming drugs and directed the chemists to be vigil and attentive during dispensing of such medications.

Dr. Mohammed Salahuddin, Principal of Farooqia College of Pharmacy, encouraged the chemists to upgrade their knowledge regularly by attending  CPE programmes regularly.

He said that the Karnataka State Pharmacy Council has made it mandatory for at least two CPE training certificates in five years from the recognised CPE Centre for renewal of Pharmacist registration certificate and added that Farooqia College of Pharmacy is one of the recognised CPE Training Centre for pharmacists of Mysuru, Mandya, Channapatna, Ramanagar, Kodagu and Chamarajnagar districts and called upon the chemists to take advantage of it.

Jeevan Hon. Secretary of Karnataka State Chemists & Druggists Association, delivered his talk on current affairs of chemists & druggists. Shashi Mohan, MD of Sattva Health Solutions, Bengaluru, gave a presentation on disposal of expiry medications.

Assistant Drugs Controller Dr. Vinod Kamble, Drug Inspectors Wasim Shariff, Jowhar Khalid & Harish, Wholesale Committee Chairman Amanulla Khan and others were present.
