Mysuru: Stating that 13,677 ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ Scheme beneficiaries have passed away in the district, Women and Child Development Deputy Director Nagaraj said that the Department is yet to receive fresh guidelines on bio-metric identity and acceptance of new applications for the scheme. 

He was speaking at the District-level Guarantee Schemes progress review meeting at D. Devaraj Urs Hall in Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Office premises here recently. 

Pointing out that Rs. 134.33 crore has been released for 6,71,674 beneficiaries in the district as the first instalment, Nagaraj said that Anganwadi workers are visiting households and submitting reports to the Child Development Officer.  

Noting that review of the reports will be done quickly, Nagaraj reiterated that the Department is yet to receive fresh guidelines for ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ Scheme. The guidelines will be implemented once it is received, he added. 

District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee President S. Arun Kumar said that the Congress Government has implemented five Guarantee Schemes for economic empowerment of the poor and downtrodden sections of the society. These schemes will not be stopped for any reason,                             he asserted. 

Committee Vice-President Shivakumar said, there are many dead and IT-GST payer beneficiaries in ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ Scheme and all such beneficiaries are ineligible. 

As such, the money that is being credited to them must stop at once, he said adding that money should also be recovered from such ineligible beneficiaries who have received payment till now.  

Zilla Panchayat Chief Planning Officer Prabhuswamy, Committee Vice-President Hunsur Basavanna, Members S.M. Yogesh, Chandrashekar, Abdul Khader, Cheluvaraju, Mahadev, Guruswamy, Udayashankar, Nithin and others were present on the occasion.
