Mysuru: Ganabharathi has organised a unique Bharatanatyam by Nritya Kalanidhi Vid. Narendra Gundurao at its premises in Kuvempunagar on June 26 at 6 pm.
Profile: Vid. Narendra, originally from Mysuru, is a senior Bharatanatyam artiste. An expert in the renowned Kalakshetra style of Chennai, he has participated in National and International Arts Festivals.
Along with his life partner, Bharatanatyam artiste Vidu. Deepa and fellow artiste Vidu. K. Mahalakshmi, he started a dance school named ‘Avigna.’
Dance productions choreographed under his direction, such as The Living Tree, Silappadikaram, Kanya and Woman Divine, have been performed in the US, UK and Rome. The Navarasa Ramayana production was performed in Singapore and ‘Moods and Movements’ in Muscat, both of which have been successful productions.
Among the awards and honours received for his artistic service, Bharatakalanjali Acharya award, Natyasevaka, Mayura Nrityasagaram, Nartaka Prashasti, Nartaka Nipuna, Madhura Kalamani and Madras Music Academy’s Nritya Choodamani award are significant.
By being nominated for this year’s ‘Nritya Kalanidhi’ award by the Music Academy, Narendra has brought fresh glory to Mysuru.
Vidwan Narendra will be performing along with his wife and disciples at Ganabharathi.
