Unfair toll collection on road to KRS Dam

June 26, 2026

Sir,

I would like to bring to the attention of the authorities an issue regarding the toll gate situated on the road leading to the KRS (Krishna Raja Sagar) Dam. The toll is being collected not only from visitors heading to Brindavan Gardens but also from individuals travelling to nearby villages or simply passing through the road. Unusually, this toll appears to be charged only for one direction, which raises questions about its fairness and justification.

Tolls are typically imposed on roads, bridges or tunnels to recover the costs of construction, maintenance and operation, thereby supporting better infrastructure without relying entirely on general tax revenue. However, to the best of my knowledge, there has been no visible road development or significant improvement on this stretch that would justify the continued collection of toll fees.

Moreover, a parking fee for the Brindavan Gardens is also being collected at the same toll gate. This charge is levied even on individuals who are not visiting the Gardens, which seems unreasonable and unfair.

In this context, it is unclear under whose authority this toll is being collected, where the collected funds are being allocated and what legal basis exists for charging both toll and parking fees at this location.

It is also concerning that no apparent action has been taken to address these issues so far.

I request the authorities to kindly look into this matter and take appropriate action to ensure transparency, accountability and fairness for the public.
