Vijayanagar residents in a fix over building plans

July 5, 2026

Mysuru: Residents of Vijayanagar 3rd Stage have been facing issues over non approvals of building plans by Hootagalli Town Panchayat and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC).

The residents have been submitting online applications for building plans approval to MCC Zonal Office -3, but owing to a technical glitch the applications are being forwarded to Hootagalli Town Panchayat which has caused problems for the residents as the MCC officials are unable to approve the plan.

While the residents have been running around MCC and Town Panchayat Office, it has also delayed the construction of the houses. With the plan not approved, it has delayed the bank loan process and approvals from other government departments.

The residents Vijayanagar 3rd stage ‘C’ Block have also written letters to the Regional Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Urban Development seeking directions to MCC Commissioner to approve the building plans either in writing or offline mode till the issue was resolved.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, MCC Zone 3 Commissioner M. Sandeep said, “Earlier, a gazette notification was issued attaching Vijayanagar 3rd stage to Hootagalli Town Panchayat. However, it has now been added under MCC limits. However, the residents are applying for building plan approvals through Unified Land Management System where software has been detecting the locations of sites and transferring them automatically owing the previous gazette notification.”
