From Kottayam to Global Recognition…

Mysuru: Nandagovindam Bhajans, the internationally acclaimed devotional music ensemble that originated in Kottayam, Keralam, is now celebrating 25 years of musical excellence.

Over the past few months, the group has captured the attention of audiences across India and abroad through its powerful performances.

Since its inception, Nandagovindam Bhajans has remained committed to promoting devotion through music, performing at temples, cultural festivals and spiritual gatherings while preserving the essence of traditional bhajans.

At the heart of this inspiring journey was Rajendra Panicker, affectionately known as Panickerettan. A man whose life was devoted to music and service, he balanced the responsibilities of managing a temple and working in a mill while tirelessly conducting bhajans and nurturing young talents.

Even after battling a brain tumour, undergoing major surgery and eventually losing his eyesight, Panickerettan never allowed adversity to silence his music. Instead, music became his guiding light and the source of strength that inspired everyone around him.

Though he is no longer with the team, his vision, values and unwavering spirit continue to resonate through every Nandagovindam performance.

In 2000, Panickerettan, together with a group of passionate young musicians, founded Nandagovindam Bhajans. Today, Nandagovindam continues to inspire, heal and unite audiences across the world through the universal language of devotional music. As the group marks its 25th year, its journey stands as a testament to perseverance, faith and enduring power of devotional music.

The group’s lead vocalists Naveen Mohan, Praveen Anand, Sreelal Venu, Manu Mohan, Abhijith and the adjoining vocal supports are renowned for their soulful renditions and powerful stage presence. Complementing the vocal ensemble is a highly accomplished orchestra. Together, this dedicated team has played a pivotal role in elevating Nandagovindam Bhajans to international recognition, creating performances that seamlessly blend devotion, musical excellence and artistic innovation.

Nandagovindam Bhajans group will be performing in Mysuru tomorrow (July 11) from 5.30 pm onwards at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Convocation Hall in Mukthagangothri campus along Hunsur Road.
