Mysuru: Amid mounting opposition to Kambala in Mysuru Dasara celebrations, Urban Development Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah has said that the event will be held in accordance with the Chief Minister’s decision.
Speaking to reporters in Kalaburagi yesterday, Dr. Yathindra said, CM D.K. Shivakumar had made it clear that Kambala would be part of this year’s Dasara festivities despite differing opinions.
“As per the CM’s decision, Kambala will be held during Mysuru Dasara. While there are differing views, the CM has decided that the sport should be included in the celebrations,” he said.
The Minister said, introducing traditional sports and cultural practices from different regions of Karnataka to other parts of the State would help promote the State’s diverse heritage.
Referring to reports of tree felling at the proposed venue in Sathagalli, he said that such incidents should not have occurred and assured that officials would be questioned.
