Nanjangud: The famed Srikanteshwaraswamy Temple at Nanjangud has recorded a hundi collection of Rs. 2.64 crore.

The counting of all the 36 hundis (offering box) in the temple was taken up over two days on Wednesday and Thursday, during which a total of Rs. 2,64,29,500 in cash, 97.79 gm of gold jewellery, 2.660 kg of silver articles and a total of foreign currencies including that of Saudi Arabia, USA, Nepal, Kuwait, Malaysia and England have been found.

Also, 3 banned currency notes of Rs. 2,000 denomination were found in the hundis.

On the first day of counting, Rs. 1,91,73,747 was found in cash, 63 gm gold jewellery and 2.200 kg of silver articles. On the second day, Rs. 72,55,683 was found in cash, totalling Rs. 2,64,29,500 in two days, apart from gold jewellery, silver articles and foreign currencies.

The Temple Management Board President Basavegowda, Temple EO C.G. Krishna (now transferred) and Bank of Baroda Manager Srinivas supervised the counting in which over 25 temple staff took part.
