State Handloom Expo-cum-Sale at JSS Mysore Urban Haat

 ‘Hath Kargha Utsav – My Handloom, My Pride’

Mysuru: The ‘Hath Kargha Utsav – My Handloom, My Pride,’ a State-level Handloom Exhibition-cum-Sale, has been organised at JSS Mysore Urban Haat, Hebbal Ring Road, Mysuru, from Aug. 26 to Sept. 8.

The expo will be inaugurated on Aug. 26 at 4 pm and will be open between 10 am and 9 pm.

The event is being organised with the support of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, in association with the Department of Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Karnataka, Karnataka State Cooperative Handloom Weavers’ Federation Ltd. (Cauvery Handlooms), Bengaluru, Deputy Director, Department of Handlooms and Textiles, Mysuru and JSS Mahavidyapeetha.

The exhibition aims to provide better marketing opportunities for handloom products produced by weavers and handloom cooperatives, preserve the traditional handloom heritage and support the livelihood of weaving families.

More than 60 weavers and artisans from different parts of the country are expected to participate. Visitors will have an opportunity to directly purchase a wide variety of authentic handloom products made by the participating weavers and artisans.

The expo will feature Karnataka handloom products such as Molakalmuru sarees, Ilkal sarees, silk sarees, cotton sarees, embroidery sarees, bed sheets, floor coverings and other traditional products along with handloom products from various States.

The exhibition provides a special opportunity for the people of Mysuru and surrounding areas to purchase silk, cotton and other traditional handloom products for the Gowri-Ganesha festival and for gifting to family and friends.
