I wish to draw attention to the cleanliness and maintenance of the park in Ashokapuram, Mysuru. Although the trees, plants and lawns are well-maintained, the park is being misused and its cleanliness is deteriorating.

Pet owners bring their dogs into the park and the dogs often urinate and defecate near the benches where people sit. Stray dogs also enter the park and dirty the premises, including the area around the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue at the centre of the park.

There is no prominent signboard informing visitors that pets should not be brought into the park nor are there adequate measures to prevent stray dogs from entering.

The absence of dustbins is another serious concern. Visitors bring food and leave behind plastic covers, food packets and leftover food, making the park unhygienic and attracting stray animals.

Citizens must understand that a public park is a shared community space and should be treated with respect. At the same time, the Mysuru City Corporation should take appropriate measures by installing sufficient dustbins, displaying clear signboards, ensuring proper gates and locking systems and monitoring the park regularly.

I request the authorities concerned to take immediate action to preserve this valuable public space and ensure that Ashokapuram Park remains clean, hygienic and pleasant for residents.
