Paved footpath as service road

October 11, 2026

Sir,

The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has been kind enough to lay three-foot-wide footpaths with paver tiles in many of Mysuru’s extensions. One such beneficiary is Temple Road in Jayalakshmipuram.

It is, however, sad to see educated people parking their cars and scooters on these footpaths, not realising that they are encroaching on the space meant for people to walk safely and comfortably.

I also find people driving their vehicles on the paved tiles and using them as a service road. I request such people, through the columns of Star of Mysore, to refrain from parking their vehicles or driving on the footpath and allow pedestrians to use it freely and safely.

I suggest that the Corporation authorities fix concrete or iron posts, about two feet high, along the footpath so that vehicles cannot enter and drive along its entire length.
