Hassan: The Hassan District Administration is all set to host the famous  Hasanamba Jatra Mahotsava from tomorrow till Nov.11.

A record number of devotees are expected to have darshan of Goddess Hasanamba.

Ahead of the Jatra, the jewellery of Goddess Hasanamba was taken from District Treasury on Saligrama Road to temple premises amidst tight Police security on Monday.

Asst. Commissioner Jagadish Gangannanavar, Tahsildar Geetha and Head Priest Nagaraj performed puja to the jewel box before taking them to the temple. The box was later taken in a procession with mangalavadya to temple after passing through main thoroughfares.

At the temple, puja and other rituals were performed to the jewel box by the priests who have also made necessary preparations for other religious activities during the Jatra.

Speaking on the occasion, Tahsildar Geetha said that the doors of Hasanamba temple will be open from tomorrow.

District Minister K.M. Shivalingegowda said that though recent rains had hampered the works of this year’s Jatra, the District Administration is stepping up its preparations.

He clarified that last year’s system, which ensured smooth darshan of Hasanamba for devotees, will be continued this year also. “It is the priority of the District Administration to provide all necessary facilities and timely services for the devotees,” added the Minister.
