First wife scuttles BSF Jawan’s fourth wedding !

October 23, 2017

Mysuru: This serving BSF Jawan married thrice without settling the divorce case with his first wife and was caught red-handed when he was about to marry for the fourth time yesterday. Learning about his fourth marriage, the Jawan’s first wife stormed into the marriage venue and created a ruckus, forcing the groom to scurry for cover.

With the Police entering the scene, the marriage was abandoned and the guests had to leave the venue though they had an elaborate lunch that was prepared for the wedding.

The incident occurred yesterday at the Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple at Vijayanagar First Stage and the BSF Jawan has been identified as 36-year-old Shivananju. According to the Vijayanagar Police, Shivananju hails from Saligrama Village near K.R. Nagar and had married Varalakshmi on May 10, 2007.

Varalakshmi became pregnant and Shivananju left her at her parents’ house and had deserted her due to some differences between them. He came back only after two years and both the families tried for a compromise formula that did not work. In 2009, Varalakshmi filed a dowry harassment case against Shivananju demanding justice and also maintenance.

Meanwhile, Shivananju married one Shwetha from Saligrama Village though he has a daughter from Varalakshmi and later he entered into wedlock with Asharani of Kanagalu village.

In her complaint to the Police, Varalakshmi alleged that neither did Shivananju lead a decent life with her nor with his other two wives. Even the divorce and the dowry harassment cases were pending before the courts, she said.

After he married Asharani, the matter was reported to the Police by Varalakshmi who informed the BSF headquarters. Finding the case fit for punishment, the BSF suspended Shivananju. Later, the suspension was revoked as he reached a compromise with Varalakshmi and the case was withdrawn. Varalakshmi said that both Shwetha and Asharani did not complain against Shivananju despite him cheating them.

Not learning his lessons, Shivananju recently met a resident of Gokulam and promised to marry his daughter (identity withheld in the interest of the woman). He told his prospective bride that he had filed a divorce case against his first wife and the court would soon grant the divorce decree. Conned by his smooth talk, the woman’s parents agreed for the marriage that was fixed for Oct. 22 (yesterday) at the Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple.

The bride and the groom’s relatives had assembled at the Temple as early as 8 am and the muhurtham was fixed at 10 am. As the wedding progressed, Varalakshmi’s brother-in-law saw Shivananju in the groom’s chair and he alerted her immediately.

Shivananju had given a false name to book the marriage hall for his wedding. On being sounded by her brother-in-law, Varalakshmi brought in some of her relatives and disrupted the marriage. The Vijayanagar Police were informed who took Shivananju to the Police Station.

Hundreds of guests who had gathered for the wedding were disappointed as the wedding was cancelled. They, however, were offered lunch that was prepared by the temple management. They left the venue after the meal. Vijayanagar Police told SOM that though they will not book a case against Shivananju, they will prepare a dossier in his name and submit it to a court as he had cheated women and was about to get married without obtaining a divorce.
